Thankful Holidays

Although it isn’t Thanksgiving Weekend anymore, it is still the holidays, and I do not believe that Giving Thanks needs to end with the coming of Cyber Monday. I have much to be thankful for year round, and the holiday season is the perfect way to express it. It is a time for family set aside from the rest of the year in order to bring those who love each other together.

It is also a time for gifts and kind words for those around you who have influenced your life in some way for the better. School children give their teachers gifts to show their appreciation, and teachers will gift their students to show their affection. Even co-workers will exchange pleasantries or gifts in the spirit of the season. It is a time so focused on giving that, we sometimes forget that we are also the receiver from time to time.

I once received a wonderful gift from a client in the form of an email that read:

“My husband and I found John to be conscientious, precise, knowledgeable and personable. John made it easy for us to discuss our sensitive concerns and take care of all that had to be done."

It makes me feel great that I can help my clients and that they appreciate what I do. I am so thankful that I have a profession that allows me to help people and receive such wonderful responses. Everyone should do something that allows others to thank you for your effort, because there are few feelings more exhilarating than a thankful smile on the face of someone you care about.

One great thing about what I do is that I get to experience the gratitude that is given to my clients by their families. To be an enabler of that sort of feeling for others is why I enjoy what I do so much. This holiday season, give back to the ones you care about like my clients did for their families. I’ll be glad when you thank me later.
